How do I make up my Urban Thirst slush mix?
It's easy! Simply pour the mix out of its bag, into the bucket. Add 375ml of the recommended spirit and stir. Place the lid back on the bucket for at least 8 hours.
Can I add more than 375ml of spirits to my Urban Thirst slush mix?
If you want to, you can! But you won't be able to fit more than 500ml into the bucket and it will affect the final consistency of your Urban Thirst frozen cocktail (it may not freeze at all).
Can I use a different spirit to what is recommended?
Of course! Urban Thirst cocktail mixes are simply the flavour base for the final cocktail, so you should absolutely add what you prefer. We recommend particular spirits based on the original cocktail recipe (for example, a daiquiri is traditionally made with rum), but check out our Recipe page to try some new recipes - or make them up yourself and email them to us!
Can I make a non-alcoholic Urban Thirst frozen cocktail?
Urban Thirst slush mixes are created for use with spirits - the alcohol content is partly what prevents them from freezing solid. So, you can make up a non-alcoholic version (we recommend adding 375ml of a mixer such as soda water) but it will freeze more than an alcoholic slushy would. Simply make sure you take your bucket out of the freezer at least 20 mins before serving, so that it can melt a little first.
How long will my Urban Thirst slush mix last?
Each Urban Thirst slush mix has a best before date on the bottom of the pail - make sure you use it within this date (usually 2 years from date of manufacture).
Do I need to keep my Urban Thirst slush mix in the refrigerator or freezer before I open it?
No, you can keep your Urban Thirst slush mix in the pantry or cupboard until you open it.
Do I have to make up the whole 1.5 litres of mix at once?
Yes, you do. If you only make up half of the mix, and try and store the other half in the fridge, it will not last long.
How long can I keep my Urban Thirst slush mix in the freezer for?
As long as you can resist it! We suggest using it all within 3 months (that's only if you have great willpower!)
How many cocktails do I get from one bucket of Urban Thirst slush mix?
A standard cocktail is 150ml. You will get 12-13 cocktails from each bucket.
Do I have to drink the whole bucket at once?
No. You can keep your Urban Thirst frozen cocktail in the freezer for up to 3 months - just take it out when you need to serve a cocktail.
Can I refreeze my bucket of Urban Thirst frozen cocktail?
Yes, you can. But sometimes the spirits will sink to the bottom so that next time you use it, you may need to stir it well before serving.
Why did my Urban Thirst frozen cocktail take longer than 8 hours to freeze?
Eight hours is simply a recommendation based on our product testing. At home, your freezer may vary in strength to ours, or it may be fuller of frozen food. Either of these factors can increase the time required to freeze your Urban Thirst slush mix to the right consistency.
